Class Level Descriptions

Beginner Courses
These courses are aimed at students with little classroom training in public speaking, with the goal of learning and practicing the 4 types of speech delivery: Manuscript, Outline, Memorized, Impromptu.
In these courses, students will spend the beginner portion creating original speeches and an interpretation piece. In the later portion of class, each student will choose one of their original speeches that they already completed then memorize and polish it. The final project is a 3-5 minute memorized original speech that will be delivered at the PDA Intramural Tournament and/or the class Showcase.
-
Advanced Courses
These courses are aimed at students who have taken our Public Speaking Level 1, 2, or 3 course. It is a course for introducing the following Speech Events: Extemporaneous, Impromptu, Original Oratory and Storytelling.
Once students learn the basics of Impromptu and Extemp, the class will focus on familiarizing themselves with current events and creating speeches every week. The final Showcase will consist of each student delivering a 3-5 minute impromptu speech.
